Shorter but no less quirkier

Get ready for quirk-ception

Hello February!

And goodbye to the longest month in human history

Am I wrong? At approximately 53 weeks, January 2024 felt like it would never end. What a conspicuous start to the new year. And by “new” I mean the dry adjective and not the jolly greeting, which wore out its welcome 52 and ½ weeks ago if we follow the Larry David rule.

In other news, I’m a bit under the weather so this week’s issue is going to be shorter but no less quirkier. This also means that I get an automatic pass for any typos or grammatical errors. It says so in the rule book.

Moving Forward

Episode 455: February updates

In the first instance of quirk-ception, I do a bit of housekeeping with updates on this week’s episode of the podcast. So if you want to listen to me talking about the newsletter, which you’re reading now, by all means tune in. Of course, I spend quite a bit of text space writing about the podcast here, so some of you may be reading this after listening to me talk about it. Regardless of how you end up here (or there), just know that I take no responsibility for any time loop paradoxes you may fall into.

Check out this week’s episode on Spotify.

Hello new month, I’ve missed you.

Hey Moving Forward listeners, I’m excited to announce that The Poshmark Guide for Individuals and Small Businesses is now available on Audible and Apple audiobooks ….

What else on this week’s episode:

  • Why I moved away from a weekly blog to a newsletter.

  • What’s in store for this season of the podcast.

  • My next writing course, which starts March 28th.

Quirk-ception vision

A far more entertaining rating system than anything Nielsen’s got

A couple of seasons ago, I talked about the rising phenomenon of reaction videos on YouTube. Lately, I’ve been enjoying watching reaction videos to some of my favorite movies and TV shows. In fact, I’ve been choosing this as a go-to form of entertainment over rewatching the movie that is being reacted to. No seriously, hear me out. Think of those times when you’ve introduced your favorite movie or TV series to someone who’s never seen it before. It’s pretty exhilarating since you know the good parts and get to witness someone experiencing it for the first time. That’s what watching a reaction video is like except with someone you’ve never met. What’s fun for me is that so many people are just now discovering the staples that are the hallmark of my generation (X) like Die Hard and Back to the Future. And for some, reaction vids are not just a hobby. There are YouTubers who have created full fledged careers just on reaction content alone, garnering hundreds of thousands of subscribers, endorsement deals, and more.

To experience quirk-ception vision, simply hop onto YouTube and type in the phrase “first time watching” or “reacting to” followed by the name of your favorite movie or show.

Below are reactions to some of my favorite films you can check out.
